If the portrayer is skilled and the portray good, one can read the thoughts of the portrayed

If the portrayer has made the portrayed look into the eyes of the viewer, the portrait will often give an intense vivacious sense of the soul.

Not so common but non the less, one can meet the same intense communication looking at a portrait of an animal, a loved dog — or of a loved landscape.
